The Perfekt is the most common past tense in German, especially in spoken language. It's similar to the present perfect in English ("I have done").
Use Perfekt to talk about completed actions in the past that have relevance to the present.
The Perfekt Formula
haben/sein
+
Past Participle
(conjugated auxiliary verb) + (past participle at the end)
๐ Examples
Ichhabegegessen
I have eaten / I ate
Sieistgekommen
She has come / She came
Wirhabengelesen

๐ก Key Point: In German, the auxiliary verb is conjugated and placed in the second position, while the past participle goes to the end of the sentence!
๐ง Memory Trick
"Haben for most verbs, Sein for Special movement!"
Most verbs use haben, but verbs of movement/change use sein
